2nd Month Prtoject - Iron Chef UVM

We are holding our 2nd Month Projects on Thursday & Friday (March 17th & 18th). Here are the rules.
  1. As it was your choice, we will be holding an IRON-CHEF like competition. We have our ingidient; pork.
  2. You must cook 2 dishes in ONE hour. You have already submitted your main dish recipe. You also need to come with an entree (to be served before your main dish).
  3. Everyone must speak English at all times while cooking. Points will be discounted, from your total, for every use of Spanish.
  4. Everything must be made during the hour of your peoject. You can NOT bring anything precooked.
  5. There will be 5 judges other than myself, so will need to provide at least 6 portions of each dish.
  6. You will explain why you chose each dish and how ut was prepared.
  7. You will be graded on use of English (10 points); Presentation (5 points); Flavor (5 points); and teamwork (5 points). IT is very important that you understand that the use of Spanish will affect you total score.

We will rafle presentations after oral exams on Tuesday, March 15.

Becoming an independent learner

Are you responsible for your learning? What is English to you? Is it a subject for school? What happens with your learning when you are not at school? I ran into this idea recently. How to be an explorer of the world. while I do not believe in recipes or easy fixes, the list in the link seems quite logical.
The fact that you are the product of your life choices does not mean that you can not change them. I feel it is very important to take charge of what is happening with your education. We can't simply assume that things will automatically improve when you are older.
After reading the list of points above, we will have a discussion with your ideas and opinions. It is important that you write down some ideas you have so that you may express them more clearly.
It is very easy to not do anything or to repeat what everyone else says. If you do not like these ideas, explain why and propose your own.
